We are a team of research chemists in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York. Our research is focused on the development of new methods for the synthesis of macrocycles, spirocycles, heterocycles and natural products.
Current Research Interests: Macrocycle and medium-sized ring synthesis, ring expansion, spirocyclisation reactions, cascade reactions, photochemistry and biocatalysis. |

Well done Mon- first paper from the group published in Organic Letters
Congrats to PhD students Kleo and Ryan whose work on S-SuRE reactions has just been published in OBC We wish a warm welcome to new students joining us for the 2020-21 academic year - PhD students Barbara and Charlay (both co-supervised with Benjy Lichman) and Masters students Willam, Ethan and Jack. Today we wish a fond farewell to two WPU group legends on the same day. Dr Aimee Clarke leaves to take up a position in process chemistry with Sai Life Sciences. James is going on to a postdoc with Prof David MacMillan in Princeton, via a short stint in Manchester with Prof David Procter. Thanks both for your outstanding contributions to the group's research - you will both be sorely missed. Farewell to MRes Student Dominic Spurling, who is leaving is to take up a PhD with Prof David O'Hagan at the University of St Andrews Our work on the photocatalytic deoxygenation of sulfoxides using visible light has been accepted in ACS Catalysis! Congratulation to James and Aimee on all the great work! New paper (minireview)- just published in Chem. Sci. 'A happy medium: the synthesis of medicinally important medium-sized rings via ring expansion', co-authored with the amazing Aimee Clarke - great work Aimee! |
